What’s HotelBot?

It’s a hotel booking chatbot that lets frequent business travelers book their hotels in 10 seconds or less.

The actual booking is made on Messenger, and can be accessed via any device (mobile or computer). You state hotel name or city, and your dates, and we offer you the best alternatives for business travelers. Two more taps or clicks and you’re done.

What are the main benefits of using HotelBot?

HotelBot is the fastest way for business people to book a hotel.

We made canceling and changing dates as easy as booking, and are free of charge (if booking 7 days or less prior to check-in).

You also earn credits with every effective booking.

Is it ideal for my mom?

Not really. Every interaction, and possible reply you might have were created with frequent business travelers in mind. We know for sure your mom will find plenty of options available in the market that best suits her needs.

For instance, we know business travelers have a nightly budget allocated by the company, that remains the same across all bookings. We also know that looking at hotel pictures and reading tons of reviews are a waste of time for our target market. They already know the hotel they’re going to. They’re just looking for the fastest, easiest and hassle-free to get it done the fastest.

Are you going to offer HotelBot in other messaging platforms?

Yes! But we don’t have an ETA on that.

Is it really free to cancel my booking?

Yes. Provided you made the booking 7 days or less before check-in date.

Example: You book on November 1st for a 3-night stay November 7-10.

If you’d book for November 17-20, then you won’t be covered by the “free cancellation” guarantee and normal cancellation fees will apply.

You have until midnight of the night before to cancel without penalties.

Roughly, as a rule of thumb, you have up to 12 hours before check-in time, but in reality is midnight of the day before check-in. Time from where the hotel is located, local time.

What are Credits?

Credits are virtual money that allows you to pay for future bookings on HotelBot.

How can I Earn Credits?

Two ways:

  • 1. By having an effective booking (effective booking: you book and you end up staying in the hotel you booked, you didn’t cancel your booking)
  • 2. By referring people to our “Give $50, Get $50” program.

How many Credits can I earn per booking?

It varies booking by booking, it’s not written in stone. You have to check in on every booking.

What can I use Credits for?

Only to book for hotels in HotelBot!

Will I lose my Credits If I cancel (provided I used credits to pay for it)?

Yes. We have to protect ourselves from people trying to trick the system.

Am I forced to use ALL the credits in one booking?

The only thing you have to do when you use the Credits is to use 100% of them at once. If you have $89 credits in your account, you have to use them ALL whenever you’re booking. If you have $599 in credits, and you want to book a $300 hotel, you’ll pay in full using credits, and still have $299 left towards your future bookings.

Do I have to wait until I make 10 bookings to get 1 night free?

No. Our credits don’t work that way. When you get the credits in your account, you can use it from the very next booking.

I’ve just booked a hotel but I don’t see the Credits in my account. What’s wrong?

The Credits will be credited to your account AFTER you check-out of the hotel that generated the Credits. We do it that way because people could be booking and canceling all day just to earn the Credits.

How can I cancel my booking?

On the chatbot itself: http://m.me/hotelbotcom (or a longer URL is http://messenger.com/t/hotelbotcom).

You can find a menu at the bottom (look for the 3 gray stripes). Pick the one that says Your Bookings. Then, the option that says Cancel. You’ll have to pick which booking to cancel (in case you have several bookings open) and then follow the steps from there.

Booking in less than 10 seconds, for real?

Absolutely. Provided you completed your Preferences/Settings and your credit card before you book. In your very first booking you’ll have to set up a few things, so from your second booking on you’ll enjoy the speed and efficiency only HotelBot can provide.

Can you reach the hotel for me and ask for upgrades and amenities?

No. We can provide you the hotel phone number for you to reach out to them directly instead.

“In a search I did, I found HotelBot’s price was higher than the competition!”

That could eventually happen, but that’s not the norm.

As you’re well aware, hotel prices change really often, sometimes even by the minute. Maybe what happened was that you searched just the minute we were updating our prices, but that shouldn’t happen often.

We understand price is important to you, that’s why we’re negotiating savings of up to 40% with the many hotel chains and suppliers we work with. That way we can offer you the best price, at all times.

Why the name HotelBot?

Because we’re a hotel booking chatbot we believe HotelBot it’s memorable and easy to remember.

How do I book a hotel using HotelBot?

Thru Facebook Messenger. You can’t book with us in any other way (just yet), not by email, not on the phone, not on other messaging platforms.

How do I download the app?

There’s no app to download.

You access HotelBot on Messenger from any device (smartphone, tablet, computer).

From your mobile device, that has Messenger installed (Messenger it’s a separate app from the Facebook app).

On the Messenger app, you search for HotelBot and you get started.

From your computer, you go to Messenger.com and search for HotelBot. Or you can go straight to messenger.com/t/hotelbotcom.

How much time can I save booking hotels with HotelBot?

Easily, around 5 minutes for every booking. And hours (in a year) if you’re trying to cancel or change the date of your booking via the call center of our competitors.

Why do I need to prepay my booking?

We only want to attract business travelers like yourself, so we can really serve you well. You know credit cards are paid once a month, so maybe your “pre-pay” is not so much so, depending on when your company pays the credit card company its monthly expenses.

We believe it’s a minimum effort to do in order to qualify yourself to HotelBot. But don’t worry, we’re considering other payment alternatives.

Do you only accept credit cards?

Yes, for the time being. We’re considering adding PayPal and Bitcoin, but we don’t have a roadmap for when they’ll be available.

We know you’re busy so we created the best referral program in the industry. Give $50 to your colleagues to try us out, and for every colleague that takes you up on your offer (and becomes a first-time customer), you’ll get $50 in credits towards future bookings you make with us.

How does HotelBot’s referral program work?

It’s pretty simple. You have to share your personal HotelBot link with your colleagues, by email, messaging, posting it on social networks, etc.

When they click on your link and become a first-time customer, each of you gets credited $50 towards future bookings (read the T&C for qualifying referrals).

How much could I make?

Unlimited, really. Some people with large networks could easily rake $5,000 dollars or more. Imagine how many free hotel nights that could turn out to be! Maybe you can stay at hotels for free during one year? It’s up to you.

What’s the catch?

There’s no catch, really. We want to compensate you for telling the people you know about HotelBot. And at the same time, we want to incentivize new users to try us out. In order to get the $50 in Credits, the new customer should be the first time he/she interacts with HotelBot,  perform a real booking (of at least $200 in cumulative bookings), and actually checks in at the hotel. When that happens (actually at check-out date), it triggers the Credits in both accounts ($50 for you, $50 for the person you referred) towards future bookings.

Does anyone qualify?

Business travelers that NEVER interacted with our chatbot before. Not only is the first time they interact with HotelBot, but also they become a customer (at least $200 + taxes in cumulative bookings). We just want to draw the line somewhere to keep the wrong people away. If your colleagues are considering trying a great new service out, we’ll give them a hand (actually it’s YOU). The $50 in credits apply towards future bookings, not towards the first one they’ll perform.

Why does HotelBot offer such a generous referral program?

Good question. In the end, it’s all about marketing spend that we rather give to you than to a large company we could buy ads from. As a business person, that’s a concept you can easily understand. Also, we could offer you just $5 per colleague you refer, but that won’t motivate you to do the extra effort to talk about us. So we decided to go all in, and go for the very attractive ‘Give $50, Get $50’ program.

When do I get the Credits for me to use?

At check-out date of the colleague you referred to HotelBot (after having $200+tax in cumulative bookings), you both get the $50 in Credits each, at the same time.

When can I use the Credits?

Your credits will become available in your account for you to use from next booking on. You could pay a booking entirely with Credits, or use your Credits to pay less money for several of your upcoming bookings.

How do I use the Credits?

It’s easy. Next time you’re booking a hotel, at checkout we’ll let you know how many credits you have available for use in your account. And you might decide to use them in that specific booking, or leave them for later. If you’re not shown the number of credits available at checkout, it means you still have zero credits available.

Why I still have no Credits showing in my account?

The fact that you posted your personal HotelBot link on Facebook, Linkedin or sent emails to your colleagues doesn’t mean they became customers just yet. Or maybe one of them already booked with us, but you get the Credits when that person checks out (in the booking that gets to $200 + taxes). So if your colleague made a booking that’s going to happen in 6 months time, then, that’s when you’re gonna get the credits in your account. Until then, you won’t get any credits from that colleague.

Also, what could happen is that a colleague told you he/she clicked on your link BUT he/she already were a user of HotelBot before. You don’t get credited for already existing customers, only first-time customers.

When do Credits expire?

Never, Credits will never expire. You can redeem them whenever you want. You can use them towards spending less money per booking, or you can collect them and get a free night (or several nights) altogether.

How do I start referring colleagues?

Great to hear you like our referral program! The very first thing you need to do is find your personal link.

We made the link pretty easy to remember: http://my.hotelbot.com/#/yourname but please find what ‘yourname’ is in your case: Go to the bottom of the chatbot (http://m.me/hotelbotcom), there’s a menu hidden in there (at the bottom). Click the ‘Give $50, Get $50’ option. Then click ‘Invite colleagues’, and you’ll see it: “Your personal link is:”.

The colleague you referred has to book (and effectively stay) for at least $200 in cumulative bookings. 

Can I redeem some of the Credits per booking?

No, you have to redeem 100% of the credits at any booking. You can’t split your Credits into several bookings. If your booking is $750, and you have $120 credits you have to options: 1) Pay the $750 with your credit card, or 2) Use all your credit (the full $120 you have) and pay the remaining $630 with a credit card.

If your total booking is less than the total credits that you have, the leftover credits will be in your account. For example, you book your stay for $750 and you have $800 in credits, after this current booking you’ll still have $50 in credits to use in future bookings.

Can I transfer my Credits to my boss or my wife?

No, your credits are personal and non-transferable. They belong to the individual that’s registered that specific Messenger account.

Do I lose my credits if I have to cancel the booking?

Yes. Once you redeem your credits, they’re gone for good. No matter if your stay is effective, or you have to cancel it. We have to protect ourselves from people trying to trick the system.

Where do I get my personal link?

Go to the bottom, there’s a menu hidden in there, Messenger calls it Persistent Menu. Click the ‘Give $50, Get $50’ option. Then click ‘Invite colleagues’, and you’ll see it: “Your personal link is:”

Where can I see who I referred?

Unfortunately, you can’t. You just get the credits every time you referred becomes a customer.
